In 2010, two members of the Church of Christ at the University of Benin made a decision that would change many lives. Abire Ogaga and Abire David pledged ₦10,000 to whichever 100-level member achieved the highest grade point average that session.
By the end of that first session, Edidiong Effiong walked away with the prize, having earned a GPA of 4.83. Other students rose to the challenge, too.
Year by year, the vision grew. We recognised more students and activated more campuses. By 2014, the need had clearly outgrown a single institution. So we thought: what if this could be bigger?
That question gave birth to the name you see today. The Greater Kingdom Impact Foundation was formed with a bold mandate — to impact Christian youths in every dimension of their lives. Not just academically, but spiritually, morally, and practically.
On the 16th of January 2016, GKIF held its inaugural Annual General Meeting at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Benin, Benin City. The Foundation was formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. Since then, dozens of students have benefited from our support, many of whom have gone on to graduate with First Class honours (including valedictorians). Our reach now extends to seven institutions across Nigeria, with a national membership base and several others in the diaspora.
We are still investing in Christian students in Nigeria. Why not support the mission?
